Most of us are aware of the devastation and hurt going on in Haiti. We too have been stirred with emotion as we have read stories and browsed through photos. Much of the time it’s hard for us not to feel totally helpless and even a bit hopeless. Story after story seems to focus on the ever rising death toll, and the desperation that is forcing people to make impossible decisions. The situation seems overwhelming and too large to handle.
But just when we feel like hope is fading and our apathy is rising we remember this quote.

While it is true that we cannot change what has happened, we do have a choice in how to respond. These are people you will never meet and never receive a thank you from, but they are real people with real stories and real needs. The most alarming needs are for clean water, food, and medical supplies.
